I am also formatting it all in Indesign and did the illustrations by hand/photshop. The book is full of images and it quite large, 128 pages 8.5″x8.5″. (think Kids travel encyclopedia) I did a test with the paperback pdf and it is waaaayyyy to large. Any tips on making it smaller without loosing quality? For example, I could redo the indesign file to be half the size, etc. I am not very savvy in the ebook world as I only own physical books myself. Any advice welcome!

Thank you for contacting Elite Authors! EPUB/MOBI size depends greatly on the program generating the final verion as well as the amount of images contained in books. Image sizes can be quite large, as today’s readers (retina screen, for example) are high resolution. Text-only ebooks can be quite small, while those with many images can easily top 50 MB. We’d suggest previewing the paperback version of the manuscript, if it’s available, for a relatively accurate page count. We hope that’s helpful!
